the idea for 30 lbs in 30 days

The idea for 30 pounds in 30 days came from a November 21, 2006, Washington Post article by Sally Squires. Ms Squires suggests that the average overweight person gains 5 pounds over the holidays and she suggested various strategies for maintaining a stable weight through the New Year.
I struggled and made it through thanksgiving without gaining a pound (2 hot rolls, no macaroni and cheese, no sweet potato or pumpkin pie, and no ice cream. It was such a struggle that I decided to up the ante and lose weight. While I am losing, I will make some lifestyle changes which will become permanent.
30 pounds in 30 days is a modest goal. I've done it before so I know I can do it again. I considered challenging myself to lose 45 or 60 pounds but that might seem extreme to people unfamiliar with detoxification.
